GE Honors Business Career Center
January 29, 2009The Business Career Center at the Wisconsin School of Business has received the 2008 General Electric Partnership Award. The annual award recognizes career centers from target GE universities across the U.S. for offering exceptional programs and being top producers of GE talent.
Wisconsin joins Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Clemson University as one of only three university career centers to be recognized with the General Electric Partnership Award in 2008.
“Over the years, we have been honored to deliver emerging leaders for one of the world’s most successful corporations,” said Steve Schroeder, director of the Business Career Center and assistant dean of the undergraduate program. “While we take pride in this recognition, GE would not be utilizing the resources of our center without our highly motivated and intelligent students. We are grateful to have GE on campus and look forward to many more years of a collaborative relationship.”
Cara Emmel, campus relations manager for GE, said, “We truly value the partnership and insight provided by Steve and his team when discussing trends, campus environment and our mutual customer: the student. We always find UW-Madison students to be well-prepared when they arrive to start their career at GE and the Business Career Center does a great job at getting them ready for this next chapter of their lives.”
In addition to serving as a top recruiting center for GE, business undergraduates from Wisconsin are also active participants in GE-sponsored case competitions. In September, members of the Alpha Mu chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, the professional business fraternity on campus, developed plans detailing how they would integrate a fictional BuckyWorks company into GE as part of a GE/Alpha Kappa Psi case competition.
