Wall Street Journal’s Chicago Chief to Be Business Writer in Residence
November 3, 2008Bryan Gruley, the Chicago bureau chief of the Wall Street Journal, will be the fall semester’s Business Writer in Residence. He will be interacting with students and faculty from the Wisconsin School of Business and the UW-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Nov. 10 through 13.
Gruley directs a group of reporters who write about agriculture, food companies, restaurants, airlines, manufacturing, health and the economy and culture of the Midwest. Previously, he was a senior editor in the Journal’s Washington bureau. Gruley wrote one of the page-one stories on Sept. 11, 2001, that won the Journal a 2002 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news.
The Business Writer in Residence program is a joint effort by the Wisconsin School of Business, the School of Journalism and Mass Communications and University Communications to bring in nationally known business writers to interact with business and journalism students. The Business Writer in Residence program is funded by a grant from the UW Foundation.
