Accounting Students Advance to Nationals in Deloitte Tax Competition
November 3, 2008A team of Wisconsin School of Business accounting students has advanced to the finals of the Deloitte Tax Case Study Competition. They will be one of 12 teams to compete to the National Competition to be held in Orlando, Fla., November 21-23.
The Wisconsin students were among more than 230 students from 44 colleges and universities who gathered at regional sites across the country in October to tackle real-world tax issues.
This prestigious national collegiate competition drew nearly 60 teams to analyze a hypothetical case study and apply their knowledge, skills and teamwork in a race against the clock and each other to solve complex tax scenarios. The competition is sponsored by the Deloitte Foundation, the non-profit services arm of Deloitte LLP. Approximately $100,000 in individual scholarships and institutional awards will be granted following the competitions.
Four Wisconsin students who won their regional competition are seniors in the Integrated Master of Accountancy ( IMAcc) program at the Wisconsin School of Business: Luke Farrell, Jesse Graewin, Jenna Lenz and Tina Wang. Senior Lecturer Lynette Stolarzyk is the team’s coach and Professor Jon Davis is its assistant coach.
