Eight New Faculty Members Join Wisconsin School of Business
September 1, 2008Eight tenure-track faculty members join the Wisconsin School of Business this fall, the most in many years.
Xia Chen
Assistant Professor, Accounting and Information Systems
Xia Chen comes from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, where she was an assistant professor of Accounting. Her research interests include analysts’ role in capital markets, institutional investors’ monitoring and trading behavior, voluntary disclosure, and corporate governance. She has been published in the Journal of Accounting Research, Contemporary Accounting Research, the Journal of Financial Economics and the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance. Chen holds a Ph.D. and a MBA from the University of Chicago.
Qiang Cheng
Associate Professor, Accounting and Information Systems
Qiang Cheng previously taught at the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia in the Department of Accounting as well as the University of Washington. Cheng’s research interests include voluntary disclosure, corporate governance, equity valuation and earnings management. He has been published in the Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review and Contemporary Accounting Research, among others. Cheng earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from the Wisconsin School of Business and his M.S. in Accounting from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
Amber Epp
Assistant Professor, Marketing
Amber Epp has recently earned her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she also taught several courses. Epp served as an ad hoc reviewer for both the Journal of Consumer Research and the Journal of Consumer Behavior. She has been published in the Journal of Consumer Research and co-authored a book chapter on qualitative data analysis. Her teaching interests include services marketing and marketing management and consumer behavior as one of my teaching interests. She also holds an MA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Bjørn Eraker
Associate Professor, Finance, Investment and Banking
Bjørn Eraker comes to Wisconsin from Duke University, where he was an assistant professor of Finance at Department of Economics, as well as an assistant professor in the Fuqua School of Business. Eraker has been published in several journals including the Journal of Finance, Mathematical Finance, the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics and the Journal of Empirical Finance. He received his Ph.D. from the
University of Chicago. He also earned a Masters in Economics and Business from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration and a Master of Management from the Norwegian School of Management.
Robin Tanner
Assistant Professor, Marketing
Robin Tanner comes to the business school from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where he recently earned his Ph.D. in Marketing. He previously worked as a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. Tanner has been published in journals such as the Journal of Consumer Research and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Making. His teaching interests include marketing management, consumer psychology and market research methods. He also holds a MBA from the University of Chicago and a B.Sc. in Industrial Economics from Warwick University in Coventry, UK.
María del Carmen Triana
Assistant Professor, Management and Human Resources
Maria Del Carmen Triana recently received her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior with a minor in Psychology from Texas A&M University, where she was also a graduate research assistant and instructor. Prior to earning her Ph.D., Triana worked for Intel Corporation in several positions, including senior software quality assurance engineer and senior enterprise applications analyst. She has been published in several journals, including the Journal of Applied Psychology and Basic and Applied Social Psychology. She holds an MBA from the University of Arizona in Information Systems and Marketing and a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
William (Bill) Weld
Assistant Professor, Finance, Investment and Banking
Bill Weld recently graduated from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University with a Ph.D. in Finance. Prior to receiving his Ph.D., he worked as a chief financial officer for a private company, as an associated investment banker at Morgan Stanley and a financial analyst for a multinational corporation as a chief financial officer for Home Service Store in Rutland, Vt. His research interests include corporate finance, payout policy and capital structure. Weld also received his MBA from Cornell University and his A.B. in Government from Harvard University.
Youchang Wu
Assistant Professor, Finance, Investment and Banking
Youchang Wu comes to the Wisconsin School of Business from the University of Vienna, where he was an assistant professor of finance. Wu has also served on the faculty of the School of Economics at Beijing University. His research interests include delegated portfolio management, corporate investment and corporate governance. He has been published in The Review of Financial Studies. Wu received his Ph.D. from the University of Vienna and his M.S. in Economics from Beijing University.
