Certified Staff Available for Personality Assessments through Business Career Center

July 1, 2008

The Business Career Center is offering certified staff to administer and interpret two personality assessments, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the DiSC assessments, to help business school employees and departments strengthen their working relationships.

The MBTI is an instrument for measuring a person’s preferences, using four basic scales with opposite poles. The four scales are: (1) extroversion/introversion, (2) sensate/intuitive, (3) thinking/feeling, and (4) judging/perceiving. The DiSC assessment is also a four-quadrant behavioral model that examines the behavior of individuals in their environment or within a specific situation.  The four quadrants of the DiSC are dominance, influence, steadiness and conscientiousness.

Both assessments help people learn about their own preferences and tendencies.  They also provide insight on how individuals interact with others, as well as how to adjust communication tendencies and behaviors in order to communicate more effectively.

Anyone in the business school can request that Steve Schroeder sschroeder@bus.wisc.edu, Jamie Marsh Finco jmarsh@bus.wisc.edu or Shannon Elliott selliott@bus.wisc.edu conduct a workshop for their unit free of charge. For more information, please contact them directly.
