Admission Policies
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Executive MBA Program is for managers with significant business and professional experience who have the potential for continued career growth. Engineers, bankers, attorneys, physicians, scientists, and executives in various other professions are among those who might participate.
Admission Criteria
At least eight years of professional work experience in business with a minimum of five years of management responsibilities.
- Above-average job performance and high potential for future advancement.
- Ability and desire to perform successfully in a rigorous academic environment.
- Willingness to participate in high-intensity, interactive classes and to devote a fair share to study team meetings, as well as to a program of individual study.
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Maturity and motivation to make a two-year commitment.
- Work release from employer for class hours that run concurrently with work hours.
Application Procedures
Applications for the program are online.
Admission cycles close on the 1st of each month. Applications that are complete on the 1st of each month will be reviewed for admission and a decision will be posted within six weeks. If the 1st falls on a weekend the cycle will end on the Monday following the 1st. Applications will be accepted until the class is full. Start your online application today!
Merit Scholarships for 2010 Applicants
The Executive MBA is offering merit scholarships for fall 2010 entry. The scholarships will cover 25% of the total program's tuition over the two years of the program. Scholarships will be awarded based on the merit of the application. All applications will be considered for merit scholarships as long as funds are available.
IIn order for an application to be complete all of the following must be submitted:
1. On line application
2. Essays
3. Three recommendation forms
4. Employer endorsement form
5. Original transcripts from all institutions of higher learning (not just the institution from which the applicant received a degree)
6. Current resume
7. If you are an applicant to the Executive MBA Program, the Manager's Program, or are not claiming residency for tuition purposes, you do not need to complete the residency section.
8. $56.00 application fee
Recommendations
Applications should be supported by three on line recommendations. These recommendations may be:
- A senior level person in your organization
- Your immediate supervisor, past or present
- A client or coworker
The on line application will request that the applicant submit the names and email addresses of their recommenders. The system will contact the recommenders via email and request that the recommender submit their recommendation form electronically.
Organization Endorsement
An appropriate member of your organization must demonstrate willingness to endorse your participation in the program by submitting the online endoursement form. Endorsement implies that:
The employer agrees that the participant will be free to attend the scheduled classes and live in sessions, and that an agreement on the level of financial support has been reached between the employer and the employee.
The applicant will be asked to submit the name and email address of the member in their organization who is authorized to give the applicant permission to miss work to attend class and is authorized to agree on the level of financial support the organization will provide.
Interviews
Interviews are by invitation. Selected applicants will be contacted to set up an interview after their complete application has been reviewed.
Cost
The tuition for the 2010-2012 Executive MBA Program will be $73,500 for the two-year program. The tuition is billed in four equal installments for each semester of the program.
