Ph.D. Programs

A  mark of distinction of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business is the strength of our highly regarded doctoral degree programs. We are one of fewer than 100 business schools in the nation to offer a doctoral degree program in business.  With approximately 70 doctoral candidates, we have one of the largest PhD programs in the United States. Our doctoral candidates contribute to the intellectual vitality that is one of the hallmarks of the School of Business.  The focus of our doctoral program is to produce graduates who go on to teach and conduct  research at leading institutions of higher learning.  Many of our doctoral graduates, however, pursue non-academic careers that demand their highly developed research and analytical skills. We offer PhDs in the following disciplines: Actuarial Science, Risk Management and Insurance; Finance, Investment and Banking; Management and Human Resources; Marketing; Information Systems/Operations and Information Management; and Real Estate and Urban Land Economics.
