Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) Programs
The CIBER network offers a variety of exciting faculty development opportunities through Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) programs. Examples include workshops that help business faculty incorporate international business concepts into their course syllabi, programs that provide strategies for foreign language educators to include business communications in their courses, and short-term international study tours to emerging market countries.
Vietnam FDIB 2009
The University of Wisconsin and University of Hawaii CIBERs are pleased to host the inaugural Vietnam Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) program January 3-15, 2009. The FDIB will focus on the unique aspects of doing business in Vietnam, comparing and contrasting the business environments of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Each city will begin with background briefings from U.S. Commercial Attaches, followed by site visits to a range of firms. These visits may include firms in the manufacturing, professional services, retail, food processing, and healthcare industries. Ho Chi Minh City will emphasize the rapidly growing SMEs and MNE outsourcing, while Hanoi will emphasize the transition of State Owned Enterprises. The targeted audience is business faculty from two- or four-year colleges and universities interested in incorporating Asian content into their curriculum.
The Wisconsin CIBER will pay registration costs for up to three UW System faculty or academic staff to participate in this program. Participants are responsible for their own international airfare and incidentals. Depending on the number of applications, additional funding from CIBER may be available. Applications for funding are due by Friday, September 12, 2008. To apply, please disregard the online application and send an abbreviated CV and a cover letter explaining your interest in the program and how its content would benefit your courses and/or research to uwmadisonciber@bus.wisc.edu.
