Workshop on International Entrepreneurship for Doctoral Students

Yan Gong received travel support to attend the Georgia Tech CIBER's Workshop on International Entrepreneurship for Doctoral students in May, 2004. This annual workshop provides the opportunity for some twenty five selected doctoral students who are interested in pursuing research and teaching in International Entrepreneurship to: (a) meet senior scholars in the area and discuss with them the most current research in International Entrepreneurship; (b) explore shared interests and current work in International Entrepreneurship with like-minded doctoral students from a variety of universities; (c) consider academic teaching and career opportunities in International Entrepreneurship and (d) join the expanding community of scholars studying International Entrepreneurship.
Spanish Language Faculty Development Program

CIBER supported Professor Chaves’ travel to Avila, Spain, to attend the Teaching Spanish for Business conference hosted by the Florida International University CIBER during the summer of 2004. This workshop is intended to provide Spanish language professors with a deeper understanding of the field of international business, a source of employment for many students of foreign languages. The program also assists instructors like Dr. Chaves, who is actively engaged in the curriculum development of the new Business Spanish major at UW-Eau Claire, to seek new practices and resources to improve their teaching abilities in the Spanish Business environment.
International Business Practice Firm Trade Fair in Riva del Garda, Italy

Students from Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC) and Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) received CIBER travel scholarships to attend the March 2004 International Business Practice Firm Trade Fair in Riva del Garda, Italy. Representing their virtual student-run businesses at the trade fair, the students, like their counterparts from around the globe, designed and planned their vendor booths, created marketing materials and interacted with other businesses at the trade fair by buying or ordering goods and services from vendors and taking orders for their products.
Global Tourism Seminar in Marburg, Germany

CIBER provided partial support for a group of Madison Area Technical College (MATC) students to attend the March 2004 Global Tourism Seminar hosted by MATC’s sister college, Kathe-Kollwitz-Schule, in Marburg, Germany. The Global Tourism Seminar is an innovative program joining students from three colleges to examine best practices in marketing and customer service from an international perspective utilizing both online learning and actual joint classroom experience. MATC students also had the opportunity to attend International Tourism-Berlin, the most prestigious worldwide tourism trade show, drawing 10,000 exhibitors from 181 countries.
