Expo Real, International Commercial Real Estate Exposition in Munich, Germany
Francois Ortalo-Magne, associate professor of real estate and urban land economics, UW-Madison Rod Matthews, senior lecturer in real estate and urban land economics, UW-Madison
Associate Professor Ortalo-Magne and Senior Lecturer Matthews received partial CIBER funding for UW-Madison MBA students to attend the October 2004 Expo Real, a preeminent international commercial real estate exposition held in Munich, Germany. The opportunity for MBA students to consult with businesses at the exposition allowed them to complete assigned research and case projects for the Real Estate 765 course and broaden their perspectives with respect to the world of real estate. MBA students prepared for the trip during class sessions and carried out their projects while at the real estate show. Upon their return to Madison, students wrote reports and disseminated their findings within the School of Business, the local business community and international real estate professional organizations. Internationalizing Intermediate Microeconomics Through On-line Case Studies
Marianne Johnson, assistant professor of economics, UW-Oshkosh Ryan Haley, assistant professor of economics, UW-Oshkosh
Supported in part by a grant from CIBER, Assistant Professors Johnson and Haley have incorporated into the Intermediate Microeconomics course a two-week exchange between faculty at the UW-Oshkosh and the Universidad del Pacífico in Lima, Peru. Faculty designed team-teaching sessions using video conferencing and a semester-long online partnership to offer UW-Oshkosh and Pacífico students the unique opportunity to collaborate online throughout the semester and complete group assignments, class projects and discussion organized around an international case study in economics.
