Judy Symon Hanson

Judy Symon Hanson is the assistant director of International Programs in the School of Business. She oversees the school's 17 exchange and study abroad programs with top-ranked business schools in 14 countries in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Both incoming and outgoing students are provided with orientation, advising, and support services. Approximately one third of business undergraduates study abroad each year, and the programs are open to other interested students expanding opportunities across campus. The program's International Perspectives course for her study abroad students is a benchmark for other programs. In collaboration with School of Business faculty and staff, Ms. Symon Hanson advises students in the International Business major program and assists with their placement abroad. She is a participating member of Business International Studies Network (BISNET) set up to provide a forum for top U.S. business schools with active, well established study abroad and international exchange programs at the undergraduate level.
Ms. Symon Hanson came to International Programs from the UW-Madison School of Business Learning Center where she provided academic support and advice to students for 15 years. She also developed and presented graduate review workshops for math and economics. Both her undergraduate degree in economics and her masters in agricultural economics were earned at UW-Madison. She is a member of the Association of Women in Development. Before entering academics, Ms. Symon Hanson lived and worked overseas in Switzerland, Liberia, Nigeria, and in the Netherlands.
