Cheryl’s extensive global business experience in both developed and emerging markets makes her uniquely qualified for this important leadership position. She was promoted late 2006 to accelerate growth in the important Hispanic and African-American consumer markets. Within a year, she was already solidifying Colgate's significant leadership position via innovative, highly differentiated, and culturally relevant business - building strategies. Previously, Cheryl was General Manager of Colgate-Palmolive, Guatemala (Central America). Living in Guatemala City, she leveraged her ability to quickly seize growth opportunities to lead the company to three consecutive years of double-digit sales growth as well as margin and market share gains. Her fluency in Spanish and knack for cultural nuance enabled her to build solid long-term partnerships with customers, business leaders, and public health administrators. Believing that companies have a responsibility to give back to local communities, she personally contributed to the social and economic development of Guatemala as a board member of the American Chamber of Commerce, a critical business and political force. From 2001 through 2003, Cheryl was Worldwide Director of the $1 billion Palmolive Skin Cleansing business. From Colgate's headquarters in New York, Cheryl led a global multi-disciplinary team to develop and drive innovation strategies. From 1997 through 2001, Cheryl’s desire to work within a rapidly growing entrepreneurial environment led her to Greenfield Consulting Group, the leading qualitative research consultancy in North America, where she excelled as a Managing Director. Cheryl advised a number of blue-chip multi-national clients in the consumer goods, pharmaceutical, and technology industries. Because of her strong relationships and reputation as an exceptional marketing strategist, Cheryl was retained to work with Colgate-Palmolive on important brand initiatives. In 1994, she had joined The Coca-Cola Company, where she held positions of significant responsibility internationally and domestically, including her role as Marketing Director for the Caribbean and Central America. Prior to Coca-Cola, Cheryl championed new product initiatives in Colgate’s US company. She was quickly promoted to Marketing Director of Colgate’s Costa Rican subsidiary, where her solid organizational competencies helped her substantially improve the effectiveness and impact of the marketing team. As a result, the company enjoyed consistent growth across all categories and provided strong regional leadership. |
