Employer Information Sessions
Employer Information Sessions are one-hour presentations conducted by corporate representatives the evening before their recruiting visit. The briefings usually begin at 5:30pm and end around 8:30pm and are held in Grainger Hall. Some organizations limit attendance to students on the interview schedule and wait list. Other organizations encourage all interested students to attend. Soda and chips or hors d'oeuvres are often served. The Business Career Center coordinates the scheduling of Information Sessions.
The purpose of the Information Session is to provide students with information on specific employment opportunities, actual career paths, qualities sought in applicants and training programs, and a general overview of the recruiting process. These briefings have been very beneficial in freeing up valuable interview time the next day. Information Sessions work well in conjunction with on-campus recruiting visits. Sessions scheduled before your Pre-selection deadline are helpful in attracting students to forward their resume for consideration. Those scheduled the evening before your on-campus interviews are helpful in getting to know the students who have signed up to interview with you.
Because of the increasing number of Employer Information Sessions, we are concerned about the pressure on students to attend and the impact on their academic work. We would appreciate your cooperation in not penalizing students unable to attend your scheduled event due to evening classes, exams, or other commitments.
