First semester kickoff social

What:  First semester Co-curricular Learning Board kickoff picnic
When:  September 5th, 2007 ----  3:00 until 6:00 PM
Where:  Vilas Park - 702 S. Randall Ave, Madison, WI

*** It is about a 25 minute walk to Vilas Park from campus (see map below), or if you prefer, there will be cars shuttling students from Grainger Hall leaving between 2:45 AM and 3:15 - meet in the Grainger atrium.

Sandwiches, chips and fruit will be provided along with soda and water

Activities: Outdoor social games (Bocce, Ladder golf, Baggo, others) and networking.  If you have a favorite outdoor game of your own, please feel welcome to bring along. 

Along with just having a good time, the objective of the kickoff event is for the company representatives to get to interact with students and for students to get to talk to and learn from professionals that work in the field of business in which they have chosen to enter after school.

Three ways students can improve their chances of getting an internship or full-time job by attending this event:

1. Meeting and talking with people who will be good contacts for you as you are looking for jobs in the future.

2. Learning more about the insurance and risk management business by interacting with company representatives and learning more about what they do.

3. Becoming more comfortable interacting with these professionals will help you in both interviewing and also in your day to day interactions with people.   Getting comfortable interacting in this setting is something that is generally uncomfortable for many until you have practiced enough to be comfortable..
