Actuarial Science, Risk Management and Insurance (ASRMI)

ASRMI Program Overview for Corporate Partners

Founded

The Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program at the Wisconsin School Business was founded in 1938; it is the second oldest RMI program in the country.

The first formal actuarial science courses were offered in 1948. Prior to 1948, students interested in actuarial science could enroll numerous courses in mathematical statistics, interest theory, as well as a full range of courses in pure mathematics.

Degree Programs

We offer two majors - actuarial science as well as risk management and insurance - because of the strong synergies between these two disciplines. This holistic approach produces students who are capable of analyzing risk from multiple perspectives.
