Investment Trips

We encourage travel to investment and investment-related learning events. We have a limited budget to help defray some of the expenses incurred by students who attend these events.

In 2007, ASAP students traveled to Chicago and New York City during the annual winter break trip. Students met with people at a variety of firms:

Events Description
New York Stock Exchange Tour of the NYSE Trading Floor

Hosts: Miller Tabak and UBS

Since 9/11, the NYSE has been closed for visitors. This is a very rare opportunity and especially since we are spending more than an hour with specialists, etc. on the floor of the exchange (where the trading gets done)

Cocktail Reception University of Wisconsin / ASAP Alumni Reception

40/40 Club - Remy Lounge

In addition to the NYC / Chicago event, in 2007 some ASAP students participated in the MBA winter trip to either Chile or the United Arab Emirates.

As long as the events include learning elements, we encourage students to attend investment conferences, meet with companies, and attend Berkshire Hathaway's Annual Shareholder Meeting.

Our students attended Berkshire's Annual Meeting in 2006 and 2007 and during 2005 the students spent a day with Warren Buffet at Berkshire's headquarters (see picture below).
