MBA students Nadia Lazaro, Strategic Human Resources, and Nick Rauer, Applied Corporate Finance, are part of an outstanding class of students in the new Wisconsin MBA program.

Our focus is creating business experts with an instant edge — to put students on the path to leadership and long-term career advancement.

The Full-time Wisconsin MBA

In fall 2004, the School of Business enrolled its first class in a new, full-time MBA program based on highly focused career specializations. Students have a common core curriculum that occupies most of their first year. Specialized preparation begins the first semester of the program and is the primary focus the second year. Centers of Expertise providing additional resources are being developed around each career specialization. The goal is to become the school of choice for students with a clear career focus.

Wisconsin’s new, highly specialized model is gaining national attention and has received favorable feedback from students and recruiters. A survey of first-year students found a 90 percent overall satisfaction rate with the new program.

Our most recent placement data have also shown improvement relative to peer schools. We are confident that our new program is the best direction for our students and that our progress will be reflected in national media rankings that focus on actual outcomes.

A key feature of the Wisconsin MBA is real-world focus. In the past year, Wisconsin MBA students have managed multi-million dollar stock, bond and real estate portfolios, conceived and launched real businesses, conducted market research for leading companies, managed a portfolio of real estate securities and provided in-depth valuation analysis of patents or acquisition targets for real companies, among other notable applied projects.
