Several elements contribute key funding sources to the School of Business.
The School of Business, like UW-Madison as a whole, faces major challenges due to declining state support. To cope with declining state support, the school is concentrating on reducing costs whenever possible, achieving better financial performance in part-time MBA programs and Executive Education, creating new revenue-generating programs, increasing private funding and earning increased external support for research and other programs. Finding new revenue streams is essential to maintaining quality, since faculty costs continue to rise in the marketplace due to high demand for business education. The charts below show our primary sources of funds for recent years. The increased private funding for many of our MBA initiatives and faculty support have enabled the school to advance in an otherwise challenging fiscal climate. As our professional program reputation grows, we expect our revenues from the part-time MBA programs and Executive Education will increase as well.
