Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)

The UW-Madison chapter of the IMA was formed in Fall 2002.

The IMA is an accounting organization that focuses on individual companies, or, "the managerial side of accounting", rather than on public accounting firms. Our speakers come to discuss their company's story and how accounting and business practices apply in the "real world". They may also discuss their accounting department, internal pricing procedures, costs structures and future employment opportunities. Meetings are followed by a brief social period when members have time to become acquainted with the speaker and ask further questions. The IMA also has several social events each semester. All food at the speaker and social events is complementary.  Membership is open to all majors, and students in the UW-Madison chapter also become members of the national chapter!
