Honors

The accounting faculty has earned national recognition, with a special strength in teaching. R. D. Nair, Larry Rittenberg, and Jerry Weygandt have all received the WICPA Outstanding Educator Award and Jerry Weygandt has received the Outstanding Educator Award of the American Accounting Association.   At the campus level, Jerry Weygandt has been recognized with the Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence and Professors Ella Mae Matsumura and Terry Warfield have been named to the University of Wisconsin Teaching Academy.  Our upper level courses are taught by faculty, many of whom have written best-selling textbooks in the area.

Our faculty also have strong professional ties. Many serve on important committees and/or serve as officers within the American Institute of CPAs, the Institute of Managerial Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the American Accounting Association.  Our faculty members have worked directly in the accounting standard setting process.  Larry Rittenberg has served on and chaired the Committee on Sponsoring Organizations; Terry Warfield has served on the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Committee of the Financial Accounting Standards Board; and Holly Ashbaugh-Skaife chaired the Financial Accounting Standards Committee of the American Accounting Association.
